PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins may be nearing the conclusion of a COVID-19 outbreak that's despatched eight players and head coach Mike Sullivan into the NHL's protocol in contemporary weeks.
Defensemen Chad Ruhwedel and Marcus Pettersson practiced Wednesday and assistant instruct Todd Reirden — who's filling in while Sullivan is within the protocol — noted both should be video game-time decisions Thursday nighttime when Pittsburgh welcomes Florida.
both defensemen went into the COVID-19 protocol Oct. 31 after trying out effective. both avid gamers mentioned Wednesday they had been symptomatic during their quarantine.
The Penguins remain with out captain Sidney Crosby, defenseman Brian Dumoulin and Sullivan. Crosby and Dumoulin went into the protocol on Nov. 3 and Sullivan joined them a day later.
"actually, they're headed in the correct route," Reirden talked about. "and i hope for his or her sake and those in their family which are around them that hopefully, they are over the hump here when it comes to dealing with some complicated times that are going on fitness-sensible."
The Penguins begun three-0-2, however have gone 1-four-2 in their closing seven video games to fall into closing region within the Metropolitan Division.
